Beautiful polychrome woodblock print depicting a glimpse of what is considered one of the best examples of karesansui (枯山水) “dry landscape”, that is the famous rock garden of the Ryoanji (龍安寺) “Temple of the Peaceful Dragon”, listed as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The work, by the artist Tokuriki Tomikichiro (徳力富吉郎), is entitled “The Ryoanji Temple in the Western Part of Kyoto” (洛西龍安寺) and is presented here in a fine 21st century edition.
The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙) is in very good condition.
